Mary Jane, Poison & Purple Haze

Unique names are associated with powers unknown to mere humans. Their strength is in the crazy name. So the sound of Haze came to mind as in Purple Haze instead of Poison Ivy. Mary Jane also circles the comic book universe surrounded by a the female model dressed as Poison Ivy. The marijuana models reminded me of cosplay characters. The magazines after the announcement of medical marijuana in Las Vegas all had a cannabis theme, but the models had fun with theme. There are girls that started modeling with photographers so that they could be on the cover of a marijuana magazine. That fact is not unique to Las Vegas. California girls and Colorado coeds jumped at the chance to be body art models for the plants taking over the city.

Nightclub and Bar Convention and Trade Show

Mayor Carolyn Goodman and Academy Award nominated actor Chazz Palminteri cut the ribbon at the red carpet to open the Nightclub and Bar Convention and Trade Show. Lines at the casinos are packed. The hotels are full. Iron Chef Cat Cora is showing nightclub owners how to make a restaurant successful. Comedian Ron White is advertising the best spirits to enjoy on a night drinking. If you want to operate a success bar anywhere on the planet, you have to learn how to earn money in Las Vegas at the Nightclub and Bar Convention. Next door inside the gigantic Las Vegas Convention Center was the Pizza Expo. Pizza bakers from around the world meet each year to learn to bake an extraordinary pizza pie with new technology, new ovens, and new ingredients. Leaving now at 8:00 am for day two. No need for coffee with all the new caffeinated drinks the beverage companies are selling on convention floor.

Las Vegas Flights to Silicon Valley

The Engineers are actually jet setting with lap dancers without trying to meet. No one is cheating on their wives! That is not what I am saying so that this story can add enough spice to get attention; But any individual flying from San Francisco to Las Vegas will see showgirls at the gate entering the airplane. Strippers live in San Francisco. The girls also have apartments in Las Vegas. Tech giants live in San Francisco. There is also a demand for technicians in Las Vegas. Dancers migrate. Silicon Valley computer coders migrate. I know girls that share apartments to bring the cost down to $2500 rent for one month. I fly often from Las Vegas to San Francisco, Las Vegas to Los Angeles, and occasionally Las Vegas to New York City. The dancers in the nightclubs fly with software engineers, CEO executives, and they become familiar with each other. Imagine seeing each other at the same time every day? Imagine seeing each other at the resorts, nightclubs and casinos a dozen times as friends each week? Relationship are made on the frequency of chance meetings. And the girls are professional communicators. They are trained to charm with speech as well as body language.

Hassle Free Flights SF to LV

The workers in Las Vegas talk. They often work shifts dancing from 4 PM to 4 AM in the early morning hours, which is why my photoshoots often start at 4:30 AM to 5 AM in the morning as the sun rises in the dark sky. The light is remarkable. The traffic is lite. The girls in Las Vegas are not stupid. They talk about how much money is being made by men in San Francisco. Eventually after one trip to the Bay Area, girls are mesmerized by the atmosphere of San Francisco’s clean air, long boulevards for walking, and the each passenger realizes that the flights are fast. Taking a flight from Las Vegas to San Francisco is hassle free.

Individuals Covered With Incredible Stories

The individuals standing at the airport gate to board the plane are covered with incredible stories. Fiction or non, I don’t care if the stories are true or not, but the doubtful critic searching for disbelief will often be shocked by the truth. The girls photographed capture a moment. True, but the stories in between the camera frames that are being shot while riding on a plane, driving between the city streets or simple hanging out in the darkness of nightclub with a girl you just flew with walking off the stage as a completely different person, these moments of transformation are incredible to wrap a brain around, “How does she move like that?” – “Is that the same girl that took photographs with me on the beach where the surfers shower their bodies to get the sand off?” – “She moves like a cat possessed by a snake on the Las Vegas stage, but this morning without makeup, she sipped her coffee the way a single mom waits quietly anticipating the moment her child wakes up to get ready for school. Many of the moms raise their sons and daughters without any assistance. No financial support. No dads. No child support. Nothing. Furthermore, that story is only a paragraph. Their lives are novels full of insight.

Unbelievable True Stories

Notice Shazam, the model with the bluish purple background behind her? She was a wander globetrotting around the world – Seriously – she had the most incredible adventures. Educated in the best cities, graduated from the best university in her home state, she was smart; Mostly she was smart enough to be bored with the direction of her cycle after chasing her dreams in library study rooms. That Summer, events were taking off in Nevada. Las Vegas was gaining attention as a marijuana type city that would rival Amsterdam in Europe where tourists smoke billions of dollars in weed. Multiply that interest in medical marijuana with a city known for gaming. Combine those multiplied figures with statistics that show how legal recreational marijuana will attract Asia investors, Wall Street investors, European executives, Latin American bankers; Nevada has tax incentives. Showcase the conventions that attract millions of people each year. Count the tickets for tourists that want to see Hollywood celebrities spin music as Disc Jockey DJ’s surrounded by stunning pool parties. Marijuana will be a trillion dollar industry – Multi-trillion dollar industry in Las Vegas, Nevada. The point is that the girl with the blue purple background answered an advertisement on Craigslist classified postings to model for a magazine cover. She modeled for the adventure. She charged me nothing. By the end of the year, the girl touring through Las Vegas on her way to further adventures from San Diego to Vancouver, Canada, was in demand as a female model from Berlin to Paris, France. I hope the opportunities work out for her. She had brilliant plans to live big.

Pink Shazam Girl : Super Heroes

Pink Shazam, the female model with red flashes bolting through her bangs and down the curls of her hair was a photographer’s dream. Her stunning appearance looked good in each outfit from the custom made Shazam costume we threw together to Super Heroes like Captain America, Catwoman, and Batman’s enemy Poison Ivy. As a photographer also covering the worldwide interest in medical marijuana being legalized in Las Vegas, Nevada, the girl and I doubled down on the photographs with Poison Ivy’s costume to add props for the marijuana magazines. This worked out in a stunning matter, because this female model captured colors so well: Colorful layers of red capes, lightning bolt gold with pink, and a neon pink bra that lined her sides between her shoulders and arms. Extreme beauty is defined by details. The bright, neon pink bra detailing her shaded pink Shazam top outlined the seductive super hero the camera was hoping to capture. She is a remarkable female model that photographed well before we met at NASCAR, Mint 400, racing events and off road chases with a Mad Max theme reminiscent of the Fury Road / Road Warrior genre of movies. Combine the colors. Add details. Notice her face. Her red hair framing her jaw line only to highlight her dark lash covered eyes. Photographers worldwide would be lucky to work with this female model native to Las Vegas as a Nevada local.

Boyfriend Photographs

The traveling model has a boyfriend that she picked up along the Southeastern panhandle where Florida meets Louisiana along the Gulf Coast. She was able to act in love with her man and detached at the same time, especially when she modeled alone. The first time we met at the hotel off the exciting Fremont Street Experience, the girl was shy. She no doubt enjoyed the camera. Having her picture taken as people walked by was exhilarating.

Nevada Marijuana Magazine Models

Alone, the girl wanted to experiment with a stronger personality. Modeling was just another adventure as she traveled across the nation driving by car. The next day, she asked to meet me early in the studio that I had set up with a local magazine: Lights, backdrops, over forty props and costumes. Her courage came out. She was extremely confident. The photoshoot shows that people change, especially when a camera is aimed at their faces.  Faces. Plural. Individuals express themselves with many faces. Not just one face that figures for that person. Photography is the act of expression. Capturing the moment? True; But beyond single, momentary frames, philosophy instructors will remind us that masks are worn by individuals.

Fleur by Hubert Keller

Fleur by Hubert Keller reminds me of appreciation. Please let me start my saying, “If you can’t afford to pay for the lunch that you invited me to dine, you make me question how whether I am going to paid for my work. As the  philosophers would remind us, “If you ask to ask how much it costs, you can’t afford it.” The 2016 Elections arrived to the President Debate. Las Vegas was center in the political fight. All the debates between Republicans and fellow Republicans were on the Las Vegas Strip. Two Democratic candidates provided us with wise cracks so that we could vote for who we thought was the wittiest. All in Las Vegas central. Groups profiting off the battles ask me to help them win the war by providing text, writing content, magazine articles for their printed materials as well as press releases to promote their cause. I covered a Senate debate one week. The political organization met me. By weeks end, I had to cover a journalistic story at the famous Barrett Jackson Auto Auction inside Mandalay Bay. The group asked to meet with me. I said, “I am at Mandalay Bay.” We will come there. Would you like to meet for lunch? We will take you to lunch. They arrived late. I remember because the disappointment set in early. After all, I was at Mandalay Bay to work. They couldn’t respect that. Second, the four introduced themselves. Shook my hand. Met me. Lobbyists. Politicians. Attorneys. We turned from the sushi bar to the bakery, look towards the Spanish restaurants and steak houses, but stood next to the restaurant that we turned to called Fleur by Hubert Keller. I walked in. I had to eat and run back to cover the Barrett Jackson Auto Auction. The leader of the group walked in with me, turned quick to glance at the menu, with a look of shock, he asked, “Can we go somewhere else? Somewhere cheaper?” By that point, I had quickly decided this was going to be a free meal. I was never going to work with these people. They were as cheap as they were unorganized. So I followed them to a long line of pedestrians standing outside a wonderful all you can eat buffet. The buffet was tasty. My hunger was satisfied mainly because they served smoked salmon with capers in the seafood section. My taste buds were in the mood for smoked fish with salty pickled capers. But I ate, listened, agreed with what they asked of me, and told them I would get back to them a week later after I was done editing what I had written by Barrett Jackson. I missed my chance that afternoon of dining at Hubert Keller’s famous Fleur. I heard about Keller in the north over the Golden Gate Bridge towards the redwood forests away from San Francisco’s city skyline. I believe the restaurant is in the City of Healdsburg. By the next evening, I couldn’t get the rejection by Hubert Keller out of my psyche. By will, I returned the next night to Fleur so that I could eat in the best French restaurant on Las Vegas Boulevard.

Home Movies

The girls were bored. Worst, they had no way of making money, so they started modeling and answering ads posted on Craigslist to make home movies. But that was not my involvement. They asked me to drive outside of town so that I could write their story starting with interviews. The interviews were baffling. The more I go over their tale of traveling from a Mormon lifestyle in a community outside of Salt Lake City, the more concerned I get for their mental well being. Their kids, many children, were left up north in Utah. Their parents estranged. Married young. Home schooled. Somehow the girl – More than one. Many female models arrive in Las Vegas only after escaping their life in Salt Lake City, Utah – Somehow the girl arrived by car in Las Vegas. She could never turn back. If she did, she would return with experience gain, innocence lost, and everything would be tainted in a strange, unpredictable way that would leave all her future concerns to be questioned. People like to know where they stand in the world. Essentially people would like to be whole. That is where the term holy comes from. To be complete. To be whole. I have seen more than eighty percent of the models crack under extreme pressure. Unfortunately the girls I was writing about this day outside of Vegas were no models. They were runaways. The church they grew up in had a derogatory term for them: Jack Mormon. Rebels, outlaws, cast away, much like the legend of the fallen angel thrown out of the safety of heaven. Don’t get me wrong. These girls are not monsters. No one is referring to them as demons in these pages. They are innocent. That is why they are suffering. They were innocent, but those in charge of their young lives didn’t appreciate them enough to provide them with the parenting that would allow them to feel whole, complete, a part of the overall world we live in. They were raised as strangers to the world.

YouTube Video Channel

YouTube Video Channel. Her story was incredible. Each word is still remembered. Dictating what she told me about adopting her sister so that she could protect her sister from the mother that raised the two of them in the adult industry. The girl north of Las Vegas in the desert where drones are tested to fly overseas by the United States military, this girl tried to escape her mother’s home by riding a bus to work in a party store that sold costumes. Minimum wage wouldn’t allow her to get away from her mother. So she  hitchhiked. Met a man. He went to prison. I am writing sentences. The sentences are brief. My method is not to tease the reader, but had to write her autobiography out. I am not sure I want to publish the material. The story is surreal.
