Magazine covers with girls posing with patriotic flags is a popular topic, especially when election year rolls into Las Vegas. I got lucky, because in Manhattan, I started writing books after being at Ground Zero on September 11, 2001. The topics surrounding patriotic news articles quickly turned into book chapters. The books had to have bold covers. Central Park West had writing classes in buildings off Broadway. Many survivors wrote life stories. I listened day after day, week after week, a few literary agencies came to me for websites. I started an account with a few publishing companies in New Jersey as well as Chelsea, Soho and Madison Avenue. The book covers weren’t eye catching. Not even self promotion was put into play. I was offered jobs testing their website. Amazon.com’s corporation BookSurge asked me to test their publishing software. I began to study the books being made. Soon Amazon acquired CreateSpace. Their executives asked to test their software for trade. The political comedies had covers that I started creating with the photographers who did not know how to edit in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator. Publishers do not understand. Book covers often sell the book. Non-readers will buy a book based on the photography used to highlight the book cover.
