Ghirardelli Ice Cream LINQ

Las Vegas LINQ has a Ghirardelli Ice Cream with coffee bar. Forget the Starbucks inside the resort, watch tourists walk by in front of the Linq Ferris Wheel, enjoy the smell of chocolate and mocha while eating bars of the city’s best chocolate right on the Las Vegas Strip. Surrounded by restaurants with an In and Out Burger right across the cobblestone path, my family and friends wanted to escape the outside heat of the air conditioning. We walked inside to see a menu with fine coffees and grabbed a few bars of gourmet chocolate minis, and chilled out with ice cold drinks. Plus the gifts were fabulous, especially before Memorial Day and Fourth of July, USA flag chocolates – red, white, and blue gift bags filled with chocolate flavors. Pumpkin coffee, mocha, dark chocolate, white chocolate, how can you say no to relaxing in a candy store on Las Vegas Strip?

In and Out Burger LINQ

Las Vegas Strip has a tasty IN and OUT Burger, when Colorado doesn’t even have one. I have friends visiting from Colorado. When they fly into Las Vegas, the first place they want to go is In and Out. Now I take them to the Linq so that they can have the Las Vegas adventure with their burger. I used to take them to UNLV near the airport, but the Las Vegas Strip is a great experience for tourists. If your visitors travel all the way to Nevada, if they crave the taste of an In and Out Burger with hot peppers if you like them, take trip for the burgers to the Strip across from Caesar’s Palace and next to the Flamingo Hotel Resort for an In and Out Burger. The place also has outside dining so that you can sit and watch tourists walk by. Remember in this hot weather, In and Out also has ice cream shakes with chocolate and strawberries. We went across the way to a chocolate store for desert after our burgers. There is also a place that makes custom made cup cakes directly next door, so when you finish your main course, you have a variety of great shopping, more restaurants, and of course, the LInq ferris wheel. Enjoy summer 2017 with fries on the Las Vegas Strip people watching.

MATRIX, Blade Runner, George Lucas Films and Industrial Light and Magic. You can’t believe in the future until you see it at NAB 2017.

Las Vegas events, Sin City shows, Raiders Games, 360 Degree Screens, Domes with Drones, NFL Games in 3 D, instant replay that makes a viewer feel like they are catching the ball, standing next to the ball, played anywhere around the world: Welcome to the inventions highlighted at the NAB Show 2017 this year. National Association of Broadcasters showcased the future of gaming, sports, video, gambling, cameras added to outdoor sports like snow boarding, scuba diving, skiing. Living near Skywalker Ranch, I worked one winter break from college at George Lucas’ Industrial Light and Magic. I was able to take my little brother to the Christmas Party to see the original Star Wars props used by Lucas Films. Lucas shot films all around us in San Francisco, so I got to learn as they produced Star Trek 4, Hook, Chevy Chase in the Invisible Man, and a few other movies; But NAB 2017 took on new dimensions with what global engineers are doing to bring special effects into your local bar, club, living room. The future of broadcast TV showcased at NAB would have been unreal for me, false, if I had not seen the technology with my own eyes. Science fiction is not truth; Science fact – Sports will transform the bar experience in Las Vegas resorts. Casinos will allow people to bet on games in real time experience.

UNLV Super Cuts

I just returned from another hair cut at Super Cuts. College students like to look their best, especially in Las Vegas for graduation ceremonies this summer, Spring Break, and all the amazing events inside the Entertainment Capital of the World. UNLV students and locals love going across the street from the Student Union to a friendly, clean hair salon at Super Cuts. I walk there from my place. Las Vegas is a small town. All the students appreciate the excellent customer service at Super Cuts, especially so early in the morning.

JetSuite X is quick, no hassle, our car was waiting, all the executives and media handling the NFL Raiders relocation flew with our publishers, and we will never fly in or out of McCarran Airport again. The only rides we will take are JetSuite, because business does not need the hassles that come along with traveling at Las Vegas McCarran’s Airport, nor LAX, especially at the end of the week on a Friday morning. Israel’s Golda Meir to Egypt’s Anwar Sadat’s, opening the bridge to China with Chairman Mao, Henry Kissinger, and the original letters, documents, classified CIA documents that turned the wars upside down. I was surprised to see the exhibit with Winston Churchill and Charles De Gaulle. The unexpected surprises were enthusiastic to embrace, because there is only so much taken from the life of Richard Nixon. Sadly, most of the books focus on his crimes, films highlight his scandals; Whereas this library opens us, the audience of walkers throughout the building, to so much more about what Nixon faced in his life. But more importantly, Richard Nixon’s tiny, little house with his mother taking care of five children. Not only did I learn a lot, but by studying the way Richard Nixon grew, how he became a public servant, what he learned from his mother, I really came away with a great understanding, a profound understanding, of the kind of leader Richard Nixon was away from Watergate. Watergate is a dark shadow, small in size is the shadow compared to the shining light of what Richard Nixon faced in his life, especially in foreign affairs, world government, decision making, all from that small, tiny, little house with no air conditioning, seldom heat, in the center of Yorba Linda. Richard Nixon was quite extraordinary. I do have to share one observation; Henry Kissinger; There was little to no mention of Henry Kissinger until I studied the exhibit in the Chinese area dedicated to Richard Nixon and Henry Kissinger’s meeting with China’s Chairman Mao. I am a big fan of Kissinger’s foreign diplomacy, even the fiction novels from Harvard in the book Class by Erich Segal. Erich is the famous author notably for his book, Love Story. Erich Segal also wrote a fictional account of Henry Kissinger for when Kissinger taught at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where I visited once a year. As a young student, Nixon and Kissinger always walked hand in hand throughout the chapters of history, but the relationship was rarely, if ever, mentioned inside Richard Nixon’s museum. Why is that? I thought I would learn as much about Henry Kissinger as the President he served as Secretary of State inside. My father used to tell me that if Kissinger had been born in American, he would have become himself President of the United States. Yes, I grew up with my father telling many stories of Kissinger, Nixon, Mao, Vietnam. He was a prisoner of war in the Korean War before Bell Helicopter put him in Texas Christian University where he studied to earn his MBA International Business. His favorite book, the book that was always beside my father’s place on the sofa was Bob Woodward’s boo, All the President’s Men. I grew up on stories about the Watergate investigative reporting as well as The Cold War, Cuban Missile Crisis, Mao, CIA, and continue to read every book printed by Bob Woodward. The irony is that the famous FBI agent who brought down Nixon named Mark Felt – My Friend aka M.F. in Bob Woodward’s All the President’s Men book, well, Mark Felt retired where I studied from elementary school to high school in Sonoma Wine Country. I don’t believe my father knew Mark Felt lived in town. FBI directors responsible for bringing shame upon the White House probably keep quiet for a reason. Santa Rosa is small. Still FBI’s Mark Felt hid in plan sight. Talk about sight, there was a gorgeous girl getting married at the Nixon Library when I was inside. I had to imagine that Richard and Pat Nixon would have enjoyed loving couples committing to marriage at a wedding in the Presidential rose garden. The couple added to the impressive enthusiasm of the entire day surrounding a history lesson about the President and his adventures through life.

Sunday, I drove into Yorba Linda to visit the Richard Nixon Library. Monday, I woke up early in Santa Barbara to get to the Ronald Reagan Library an hour early. The timing was right, because lines began to form, shuttle buses parked with hundreds of international visitors and hundreds of elementary school students arrived for a trip. The learning experience was incredible. Honestly I learned more than I thought I would by reading all the various exhibits and unlike other museums, I was able to get a tour of the inside of Air Force One, the same airplane that served seven Presidents in the United States as well as helicopter. There was a jet outside used over Libya. I thought I would spend one or two hours inside, but stayed the entire day, and I am sure that I will return. The Ronald Reagan library taught me a lot. I returned to Las Vegas and gathered around the government officials that knew Reagan, Kissinger, people involved with foreign affairs overseas now retired in Nevada. I really want to read more, ask questions, and return by summer. I am glad I didn’t take my son. I have to admit, he would have been bored of all the exhibits. I was lucky that I am a fast reader with the ability to take my time, stop and eat lunch, and continue to see more exhibits. There is a restaurant, pub, and a super market down the street with a Tommy’s Chili Burgers. The dishes of food served were excellent with people enjoying outside ocean breezes on the patio. Fog rolled in over the mountains by afternoon. The tour guide told us that in the summer there will be a Titanic exhibit with treasure from the sunken ship Titanic. I hope to return before summer with a group of friends from Las Vegas.

Twin Peaks San Francisco California

Twin Peaks San Francisco California

Grandma takes her grandson to Twin Peaks when he visits San Francisco, California. The feeling is as majestic as when you sit on top of the world in San Francisco. Twin Peaks is a memory to save for a lifetime after a single view. No other view offers a visitor more of San Francisco than Twin Peaks, which is why our family takes all our visitors from out to town to the top of the peaks.

Zappos Gives Away Free Prom Dresses and Tuxedos Today

Zappos is known for giving generously to the community, but to see that giving spirit come out today first hand for the high school students living in Las Vegas, I was bewildered by how wonderful the company is. They make so many people happy. Mothers were proudly watching their children pick out gorgeous dresses for prom. Free dresses. Given away by Zappos community spirit. Daughters were given dresses for high school proms, manicured nails with bright colors. Hair stylists were helping. The shoes were in rows stacked high. Zappos transformed their entire mall in the old City Hall to give away free tuxedos, prom gowns flowing with beauty, attractive high heeled shoes with styled fashion, and then combined that generosity with free dancing lessons, hair dressers, free limo rides in luxury shuttles. Disc jockeys played music. Today was the first day in 2017 when the heated temperature raised above 90 degrees F. Zappos had bottled water, cool fans, food, everybody was simply happy dancing, shopping, and thinking about a bright future at their high school prom. I was honestly overwhelmed by how much their company embraces the community, especially when I met the proud mothers, who drove their daughters to find a dress. The atmosphere was surrounded with a recognized pride.

9 pm at night and I am still taking my time eating you amazing tempura spinach salad that I ordered around 11 am. As I ate lunch in your restaurant today, I noticed that all four tables sitting around me ordered your famous tempura spinach salad – The same one I am taking my time with. I brought the spinach and sauce into the office to share with my engineers. They all loved the taste. Absolutely divine. The curry aroma war unforgettable. The people near me order the salmon after their world famous spinach appetizer. The service was wonderful. Even the water – The simple glass of H2O water had flavor as the waiter told me that the water had been prepared that day with oranges and strawberries. Each day the water is different. Some days the water has fresh cut limes or cut green cucumbers with lemon. You can’t take a drink without bringing out flavor. I have to return with my family for the curry dishes with the salmon. We never heard of you. Your restaurant is across town from us, but we were at a shredding event with Councilman Bob Beers this morning at the Veteran’s Memorial near Costco and I said, “I have to cover a restaurant review today. Name a great restaurant around here. What do you recommend?” Without hesitation, Councilman Beers asked, “Do you enjoy Thai dishes? Try Nittaya’s Secret Kitchen on Rampart and Lake Mead.” Your menu was worth the drive. Each bite is inspirational: Spinach prepared with the texture of Japanese tempura but served with a delightful oil and vinegar sauce combining cashews, fresh shredded carrots, green onions rolls, red onions, herbs and oils. Delicious with the shrimp pad thai noodles. After eating, I still had enough to take to the office and eat now for dinner at nine o’clock at night. I wish I lived near Rampart Blvd. After leaving to see the patio dining outside, I went next door to discover the olive oil tasting at Big Horn Olive Oil Company. The bottles of olive oil and vinegar reminded me of the wineries in the Santa Barbara Wine Country. I learned about recipes from owner, Julie Young, and walked out with a gift for my friend’s Purim celebration.
